The Specialist Family Violence Practitioner provides crisis response, risk assessment, and case management to individuals and families experiencing family violence. The role delivers trauma-informed, strengths-based supports, prioritises victim-survivor safety, and implements relevant legislative frameworks to manage risk and ensure accountability of persons using violence.
Responsibilities:
Provide crisis response, risk assessment, and case management for women and children escaping family violence.
Deliver trauma‑informed and strength‑based support that prioritises safety and empowerment.
Work within MARAM, Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme (FVISS) and Child Information Sharing Scheme (CISS) to manage risk and hold perpetrators accountable.
Advocate for victim survivors and collaborate with local, regional, and statewide services.
Participate in an after‑hours on‑call crisis response roster.
Support clients in emergency and refuge accommodation, including safety planning and material aid as needed.
Requirements:
Bachelor‑level qualification in Social Work or equivalent under the Vic Gov’s Recommendation 209 / mandatory minimum qualification framework.
Experience in family violence crisis intervention and case management.
Strong knowledge of risk assessment, trauma‑informed care, and family violence frameworks.
Ability to work in high‑pressure environments managing complex caseloads.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Valid Victorian Driver Licence, Working with Children Check, and satisfactory police check.
