This is a full-time or part time on-site role, looking for several Orthopaedic Scrub/Scout Nurses and x1 ENT/Plastic scrub/scout nurse.
Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively as part of the healthcare team, ensuring clear and effective communication
Confirm patient identity, valid consent, allergies, and fasting status; perform “time out” according to policy
Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and sterile stock for procedures
Scrub in following ACORN standards and prepare the surgical setup immediately prior to the procedure
Perform surgical counts with the circulating nurse and ensure all documentation is accurate.
Anticipate the surgeon’s needs and maintain aseptic technique throughout procedures.
Adhere to safety protocols to prevent injury to patients and staff.
Handle waste and disposables correctly, ensuring compliance with hospital guidelines.
Coordinate with the broader healthcare team and provide thorough handover to the recovery nurse.
Requirements:
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
Previous perioperative experience in orthopaedics, ENT, or plastics preferred
Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, implants, and procedures
Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
Commitment to patient safety and high-quality care
