We are seeking an experienced Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) to lead the Coronary and Critical Care Unit (CCU) This full-time role requires a post-graduate qualification in Coronary or Critical Care and offers the opportunity to lead a high-performing, multi-disciplinary team within Tasmania’s largest private cardiology service. The NUM will provide strong clinical leadership, oversee patient care, and ensure the delivery of exceptional outcomes in a 25-bed CCU, which includes a dedicated coronary care area.
Responsibilities:
Provide clinical leadership and operational oversight of the Coronary and Critical Care Unit
Lead, mentor, and support a multi-disciplinary nursing team to deliver high-quality patient care
Manage daily operations, including staffing, workflow, and resource allocation
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, clinical standards, and accreditation requirements
Oversee patient care for acute cardiac, medical, and high-dependency surgical cases
Collaborate with cardiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to optimise patient outcomes
Support staff professional development through education, mentoring, and performance reviews
Monitor and maintain clinical standards, safety protocols, and quality improvement initiatives
Requirements:
Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
Post-graduate qualification in Coronary or Critical Care Nursing
Proven experience as a Nurse Unit Manager or in a senior leadership role
Strong clinical knowledge of acute cardiac, medical, and high-dependency care
Excellent communication, collaboration, and team leadership skills
Ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team and manage complex clinical situations
